Amytis
Privacy policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This policy explains what information Amytis collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account information. Your name, email address or mobile number, password (stored only as a secure hash), and your major, if you choose to add it to your profile.
Signing in with Google. If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. See "Google account data" below.
What you do in Amytis.
- Your conversations with Amytis, including photos and PDFs you attach.
- Private or shared learning spaces you create or join, and materials you upload (files, and text we extract or transcribe from them).
- Lessons you complete and your answers to exercises.
- Usage counts that enforce plan limits.
Payments. For paid plans we keep a record of the plan, amount, date and payment status. Card details are entered on Zarinpal's page and never reach us.
Notifications. If you turn on daily reminders, we store the subscription your browser gives us so we can send them.
Contact messages. What you send through the contact page, and the email or number to reply to.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell your information.
Google account data
You can create an account or sign in with your Google account. This section covers the information we receive from Google when you do.
- What we access. Only the basic sign-in details: your name, your email address and your profile picture. We don't ask for, and can't read, your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Google Drive files or any other Google data, and we never see your Google password.
- How we use it. Only to create your Amytis account, to sign you in, to show your name on your profile, and to send the verification and notification emails you ask for. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.
- How we store it. In our database, alongside the rest of your account information, behind the protections described under "Security".
- Who we share it with. No one, except the service providers who run Amytis for us (hosting and email delivery) and only so they can provide that service. We don't transfer it to data brokers or advertisers, and we disclose it only if the law requires.
- How we protect it. Connections are encrypted and access to the database is limited. See "Security" below.
- How long we keep it, and deleting it. We keep it while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete it with the rest of your profile. To delete your account, or to ask for a copy of your information, write to us through the contact page with the topic "Privacy and my data". You can also remove Amytis's access from your Google account settings at any time; we then no longer receive anything from Google.
Amytis's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use it
- To run the service: answer your questions, keep private materials private, show class members material shared with their class, build personal study paths, and keep your history.
- To tailor answers: Amytis sees your profile details and study progress so its help fits your course and level.
- To keep accounts secure, enforce usage limits, and prevent abuse.
- To process payments and answer your messages.
AI providers outside Iran
To answer you, your messages, attachments and relevant excerpts from class materials are sent to third-party AI model providers. Audio recordings are sent to a transcription provider, and text is sent to an embedding provider so it can be searched. These providers may be located outside Iran. They process the content only to return a result to us. Amytis cannot work without this step.
Improving Amytis's own models (optional)
We ask separately whether your activity may be used to evaluate and train Amytis's own AI models.
- It is off unless you turn it on, and saying no changes nothing about how Amytis works for you.
- If you agree, it covers your conversations with Amytis, your exercise results, and text extracted from class materials. Your name, email, phone number, profile details and payment records are removed first, and uploaded files themselves are not used.
- You can turn it off at any time from your profile. That stops all future use immediately. It can't remove what a model has already learned from data used before you turned it off.
Who can see your information
- Your classmates see materials you upload to a shared class and your name as the uploader. They cannot see a private learning space, your chats, or your personal study path.
- Service providers that help us run Amytis: AI providers (above), hosting, SMS and email delivery for verification codes, Zarinpal for payments, and your browser's push service (such as Google, Apple or Mozilla) for reminders.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual chats and the materials you uploaded at any time. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, chats and progress. Materials you shared in a class may stay available to its members unless you ask us to remove them too. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your profile details from the profile page.
- Delete chats and your uploaded materials in the app.
- Turn off research use and reminders from your profile.
- Get a copy of your information, or delete your account, by writing to us through the contact page with the topic "Privacy and my data".
Storage in your browser
Amytis stores your sign-in token, language and theme in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. There are no advertising cookies.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and access to data is limited. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
